The Official 33 in 33 List!

When I turned 30 I decided to do a 30 in 30 list for fun! I accomplished all 30 things on my list in my 30th year. This year, I decided to do the same thing. . .I will do a 33 in 33 list! I'm super-excited about this year's list and cannot wait to complete it! So, without further ado, the list and their explanations:

  1. Run 11 Races - Why 11? It's a 1/3 of 33! Races are a blast but they are expensive. So I thought I would run 11 of them :) My first one is April 18th. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! this is the first time running a race post-surgeries!
  2. Go to an Opera - Never been, curious to go . . .
  3. Loose 50 lbs - That'd be 30 pregnancy left to go and then 20 to get to my weight in Junior High. Don't worry, it's well within my "Normal" range.
  4. Give up Soda - When I turned 30 I gave up alcohol for a year. This will be 500X tougher for me. I love soda. I could drink this and nothing else. My hope is that I will actually drink more water if I give up my carbonated heaven.
  5. Go on a spiritual retreat - I'm not sure what this will look lilke. If I go alone, if I find a guided retreat to go on. I just need to get away with Jesus and have some good-ol-fashioned 1 on 1 time!
  6. Read the entire Bible - Never done it. . .
  7. Institute Thankful Thursdays - For 52 Thursdays I will write a letter to a special someone thanking them for what they mean to me.
  8. Institute Weigh in Wednesdays - to help me with #3
  9. Wear my Wedding dress Dec. 15th - If I hold true to my weight-loss plan, I should be at/below my wedding weight by our anniversary. It'd be fun to haul that thing out :)
  10. Go on a Girlfriend’s Getaway - Just me and my besties somewhere for a night or two
  11. Read 33 books - Sit down and read? What's that? Yeah, this actually may be my toughest! I NEVER get time to sit and read. I'll try though!
  12. Cook 33 new recipes - This is just fun for me! I never cook the same thing twice. Really, it's rare I repeat a recipe. I love finding new recipes to try!
  13. Try Zumba - I am laughing at myself already! I mean at the Rec Plex, they turn off the lights and have a disco ball! Oh my gosh I'm the worlds most uncoordinated person ever. . .this will make me laugh my head off or puke a bit in my mouth!
  14. Run 3 Half Marathons - Why 3? Well 33 is too much. . .heck 11 is too much. . .let's go for 3!
  15. Run further than I’ve ever run before - That'd be 13.1 miles. . .how far can I go? 14? Too be seen!
  16. Try a climbing wall - I hate heights. HATE THEM. Climbing walls really intimidate me! I think I'll give it a go!!!
  17. Karaoke - Yeah, I sound like a dying frog BUT if I get a group of my drunk MR friends to go with me, maybe I might be able to do it! I seriously laugh out loud every time I think of myself singing in public! Have y'all ever seen Cameron Diaz sing in "My Best Friends Wedding?" Yeah, that's me!
  18. Shoot a gun - Never done it! 'Nuf said. Anyone want to take me?
  19. Run the Katy Trail - How have I never run on the Katy Trail before? I've biked it once but I've never taken my headphones and took off!
  20. Try Russian and Dutch food - Okay, I have a 2 beautiful sisters in law who's families are from Beleruse and the Netherlands. I've never had a Russian or Dutch MEAL. I have had tid-bits from teh cultures but never actually eaten a meal. Sounds like fun right! I think it'll have to count towards my 33 new recipes!
  21. Give up chips - Oh crap. This is my kryptonite. One of my besties always says she'll give me a salt lick for my b-day. . .I seriously have no self control with chips. . . .What have I done?
  22. Do 11 pull ups - 11 being that magic 1/3 of 33 number. Currently I can do 1. Only 10 more to go!!!
  23. Accomplish 11 new Yoga poses - I find yoga getting boring sometimes. . .I want to do some of these more advanced poses! My yoga teacher challenged me with Bird of Paradise. I thought it was so beautiful. I haven't got to work on it yet. . .it made me think of these 11 new ones to try to master as well!
    1. Sage half bound lotus
    2. Handstand Scorpion
    3. Hummingbird
    4. Eight Crooked limbs
    5. Bird of paradise
    6. Vasisthasana – side plank with toe raise
    7. Full Bow Pose
    8. Lord of the Dance
    9. Standing splits

    11. Albatross Eka Pada Koundinyasana II
  24. Save $333 - Do you know how many starbucks that is?
  25. Plan and go on a vacation as a family - We need this.
  26. Be able to do 33 pushups - I currently can do 20. This one shouldn't be too tough.
  27. Participate in a city dinner crawl, which means having cocktails, appetizer, dinner, dessert and post-dinner cocktails each at a different place in one city in one night.
  28. Institute Friday Family Fun Night – have a family fun jar full of fun ideas to accomplish as a family!
  29. Go out to dinner and a movie by myself - this intimidates me. I am nervous already!
  30. Watch every AFI’s 100 Years of 100 Movies 10th Anniversary Edition List - I've actually seen some of these but a lot I've never seen before or it's been so long. I think I'll have to have a few movie-marathon days :)
  31. Take a photo every day of the year - dunno. sounds fun.
  32. Do not cut my hair and donate again to Locks of Love - Did this in 30 and I had a blast. I'm going to see who I can recruit to do it with me! Cyndi, Belinda, are you up for this again? *
  33. Pay for a photo shoot with my family - My family has never had a professional photo taken together.
There you go! Ask me about it often! I'll be posting my progress throughout the year! I'm really looking forward to doing this!
* Mike would like everyone to know he has lodged a formal complaint about this one and has thus threatened that "If you cut your hair off up to here (indicating his scalp with his hand) then I am shaving off my goatee." Challenged accepted Michael Dean!

Come on up anytime and we'll gladly help you with #18 whenever you want. You could even have your choice of various guns. Yeah, my family is pretty much prepared for WWIII to break out here.
