Super Hot Missouri Summer Days

I thought I'd share a few pictures of our kids swimming since this is really the only SANE thing to do on days like yesterday. I would like to add that we went swimming at 9:00 AM. It was already 93 degrees with 100 degree heat index and the pool water was as warm as bathwater. Nevertheless, we are grateful to our neighbors for giving us the opportunity to bod as a family and still stay cool!

AND look what I finally grew!

Ballet

Our little Ballerina!

Lorén absolutely loved her ballet class. She did really well for her first time. Unfortunately she has her mother's natural grace and her father's natural rhythm. Nevertheless, she tried really hard and considered herself successful "Except I tapped too hard in tap." :) She melted our hearts! I'm glad we have the opportunity to give her something she greatly desires!

She was absolutely serious in this picture :)

This Very Busy Week

It's 3:00 pm on Sunday and I'm just about SPENT from this fantastic week. We really had a lot of fun this week. It seemed that just about every day was filled with some adventure or another. I will not miss swimming lessons. It is HARD to get 3 kids dressed, packed, and greased and out the door by 8:45 AM. I think there is an added dimention with having a baby who needs his bottle at that time too. Nevertheless, snacks, change of clothes, sunscreen, waterbottles . . . I'm tired just remembering!

So Lorén ended up doing really well in Swim lessons. She is able to get to the side of the pool if she ever were to fall in. That was my goal for her. She jumps in the pool, does flips in the water and does what amounts to a glorified "Doggy Paddle" (if you ask her though, it is the most beautiful breast stroke in the world). I think she'll be wearing water wings the rest of this summer but hopefully next she'll be ready to go!

Zachary did very well swimming too. He was the only one in his class to completely submerge himself in water. The others were too frightened. Much of his time was spent "getting used to the water." Which is about where he is right now. When they did "swim" he did very well. Zach was so cute. He would start every lesson talking to one boy or another. His conversations began with "Hi I'm Zach and I'm going to be your friend." Then the two boys would call each other "friend" the rest of the lesson.

On Tuesdays and Thursday this week I let them stay after lessons and go to Tiny Tot swim. It's a really nice Zero Entry pool with a slide, sprinklers and water dump bucket. Moms can sit anywhere in the pool and see their kids. At the deepest it comes up to Zach's thighs. It was hotter than Hades though and my daughter from another mother Carlye watched Jax at home. It was fun for Zach and Lorén to get some mommy time. Plus mommy's arms got a bit of a break!

This week also featured "Bakers in Training" at our local St. Louis Bread Co (Panera for all you northern folk). It was so cute! The kids got to make bread, eat cookies and learn about food safety while Mommy and a few of her friends got to drink coffee and chit-chat! I was really bad though and made my son lie and say he was five. Ummm. . .he looks five, that counts for something :)! Plus, Cyndi was going to lie with me but she "Forgot closed toe shoes for Ben" I was alone in my sin :)! Nonetheless, Zach and Lorén were very proud to serve the bread they made at dinner time.

Jax loved sitting there screaming at his older brother and sister!

Jax man has had a very big week too. I started giving him practice foods. You know, those Gerber Puff Cereals, Gerber Yogurt bites, and things in his mesh baggy. He has his brother's Gag reflex though. That's not good! He is practicing though.

Here he's eating an apple with daddy.

I just love his face in this one. He's trying to chew with those ridiculous two front teeth!

Jax is also on the verge of crawling. He is getting up on all fours and rocking. He ends up going backwards though which really frustrates him. I was playing with the kids in Toy room. I had to go potty. I came back in toy room and Jax was missing. Talk about a FREAK OUT! Lorén likes to think she can lift and carry him where ever she likes, despite repeated warnings. I found him though! He had crawled backwards under the desk! He was stuck but proud!

It is nice that the kids are all begining to play together. Zach and L are so sweet and like to include Jax in their games. They enjoy playing cars together and Zach has begun to stop freaking every time Jax puts one in his mouth or steals his cars.

Lorén was shooting her brother's in this picture! Classic!

On Friday we had Celia and Charlie come over all day. It was so much fun! They swam and played so well! We kept the girls over night and the boys went to the Blevins for a sleep over.

Zach literally fell asleep playing with Charlie and Jax!

Lorén asked to rock her baby to sleep!

And I'll leave you with a funny story! Yesterday we did a bunch of running around. We decided that early in the morning we would go to Zachary Park to play. Afterwards we hit Heaven Scent Bakery for some treats. Zach and Lorén each picked out a cookie and had chocolate milk. They SCARFED the cookies. Then they both turned green and just like that, both of them ran to the bathroom and puked. Classic and classy right. Watch out, the Rozema's are coming to town!!

Swim Lessons and Poo

Do you know how difficult it is to get three kids out the door by 8:45 AM? Not to mention, you have to have them in swim suits, sun screened up, snacks, water bottles, bottles, formula, outfit changes all packed. Oh boy, its a miracle we make it each day. Zach is doing really well in his class. He wins every race and is the only one to go completely under water. He's so brave and strong. I was watching him today out swimming in the deep end with his teacher and I remembered when he was just a baby doing this. He still resembled that itty bitty baby and it simply melted my heart.

Lorén was in Zach's class and 2 days into lessons, the teacher brought her to me (you know I'm thinking "What did she do!?!" She said, "We think she is really advanced and would like to move her to the 6 year old class." I thought, "Why not?" She does well in the class but has some trouble emotionally because she can't "win" against them. Plus, she's one of the worst ones. I think it's good though because she really strives to be as good as her peers.

Jax just sits and yells at everyone the entire time. He thinks he's hot stuff when I put his toes in the water!

So, let me tell you how my day went after lessons today! I get to the RecPlex and I get inside to find out Jax has a blow out. I clean him up and go start to work out. About 25 minutes into my workout the tot drop lady comes to me and says, "Zach peed his pants." Now I know this boy is ONLY 3 but dang it, he looks 5 and I often expect him to BE five. I was so frustrated. I took him out to the car and changed him into his swim trunks. I go finish working out. When I get to the Tot Drop to pick them up, the lady goes, "I hate to greet you with this, but Zach had poop in both of his shoes." EXCUSE ME WHAT??? Yes, both of his crocks had poop lodged inside them. I mean puke puke puke. She had them soaking in the sink and it took me 20 minutes to get them cleaned, the sink cleaned and sterilized and myself sterilized. HOW DID POO GET IN HIS CROCKS??? I'm just choosing to believe he stepped in dog poo somewhere and that's how it got in there. I'm telling you though, that ranked up there with one of the grossest things I've ever had to do.

Mike can't get home quick enough today :)!

Fourth of July Weekend

What a fun weekend we had! We were able to connect with friends and family all weekend! We spent Friday night with the Ferris Family playing games. I got my BUTT KICKED in St. Petersburg. Mike won by 5,000 points but that wasn't as crushing as Travis beating me by 1 miserable lousy point. Jerk-face-head! We haven't got to laugh with them in so long. It was a great night.

We also were able to have dinners twice with my folks. It was very nice because mom is going to India for 2 lousy weeks. She hates it and we hate it when shes gone!

The fourth was a blast! We had our pastors and their families over for some firework action! It ended sadly when we got the po-po called on us (our smoke bombs were very dangerous)! But before that, we had a few hours of fun! So, here's a few pictures from our weekend!

Sum-sum-summer time!

So I really think that my sister in law Kelly is one of the most brilliant people I know! What do you do with a baby while his siblings splash away in their kiddie pool.

Ta da!!!

He was absolutely convinced that he was in the pool with them splashing away! He LOVED it! Why didn't I think of this for my other two! Jax was nice and cool and played for . . . AN HOUR without fussing!!!

I put the kiddie pool on the deck so that I could fold laundry at the table and keep an eye on them. Multi-tasking at its best! Zach and Loren played outside for 2 hours in that pool. The nice thing about our back yard is that it's shaded starting at 11:00 am. Our back yard is always 10 degrees cooler feeling than the front!

I made them freezer pops out of kool-aid. They were disgusting to me but the kids loved them. I remember liking it when I was a kid. Andrea made some out of Ice-cream, raspberries, and a bit of juice. Those were much better in my opinion :)!

Later, Jax needed to be Grandpa's boy so I dressed him in a Detroit Tigers outfit Mike's Dad bought for Zach. I thought he looked so precious in it!!

So I did an entire week of walking 1.5 - 2 miles. It hurt. One time I got home and I literally couldn't bend or flex my ankle because my leg was so sore. It didn't ever swell so that's reassuring! My lungs actually carried me well. I'm hopeful that the clots in my lungs have dissolved or at least dissipated to a negligible amount! Perhaps next week I will attempt some elliptical workouts.

Loren is begging me to go write a Tree-House-Castle book for her. She is simply convinced that Grandpa is going to build her a "St. Louis Tree House with a Flower Box" for her birthday. She has already drawn pictures I am to frame for the house, she has picked out "begonias" to plant and has decided that she will have a tree house themed birthday. Sigh. At least she's stopped demanding and has started asking her grandpa :)! We shall see!
