Number 10 and Number 14

On my 30 in 30 list:

Drink: A glass of Champagne Midnight, Birthday Eve 2009 and Midnight, Birthday Eve
2010!

Which leads to Number 14 - Give Up Something for the Year: Alcohol

I think I'm already regretting number 14 :)

30 Years Old!

I just have to say that my husband is the most amazing man in the universe! I didn't know what to expect for my 30th birthday. Quite frankly, we had to buy a new water heater 2 weeks ago so I thought that was my "Happy Birthday" gift. BOY WAS I WRONG! My husband is the BOMB!

So, he told me last week not to plan anything today because he was having the Air conditioning guy out to check the system. Needless to say, I was TICKED! For starters, we just dropped a load of money on the water heater and for the air to be having problems was CRAP! Plus, this is my one day off! The kids go to MDO so I get all of my errands done on Fridays. On top of that, I had a lunch date with Sheri that I was sure was going to be thwarted because of this stupid air conditioning guy. I was peeved. . .for about a week!

This morning, Mike rolled over in bed and said, "Darling, the Air Conditioning guy was just a ruse and I asked Sheri to cancel with you today and reschedule after today. . .I took today off to spend with you! Sleep in!" WOAH! SLEEP IN! I was so excited! I was all but jumping up and down on the bed! I was too psyched! We got the kids off to school and he told me, "Today is about you. Your present is that I love you and I want to support you. I've planned things today that will help you on your list." For those of you who don't know, I have a 30 in 30 list. There are 30 things I wish to accomplish in my 30th year. . .stay tuned. . .because of Mike, 5 of them were knocked off today! Each were a surprise as they happened! I didn't know what he had picked until we got to each! This was by far the best day of my life outside major events (wedding, births, etc). . .So, here's the account as follows :) . . . .

Number 21 on my list is "MO Experience: Run in Forest Park" Everyone always tells me how amazing it is to run in Forest Park. How much fun. Well, I've never done it! I thought it would be a blast! We got there and ran for an hour! It was beyond fun! We ended by running up Art Hill. Yeah, that ended our running right there (well we ran back down to our car). I have never had so much fun running in all of my life!

So on my run I found a lucky penny. I tossed it in the fountain and made a wish. . .I will let you know next April if it comes true. . .remind me!

Number 12 on my list "Food to Try: Indian Restaurant". So just about everyone loves Indian food. I have never had it for 2 reasons: 1) It kind of looks gross and 2) Never had the opportunity. I mean if we are going to spend money to go out to eat, I want Olive Garden. . .an old favorite, you know? Mike goes to an Indian Restaurant all of the time. It is one of his favorites. However, he goes with his work buddies. So today, he took me to India Palace. Verdict - Really Good, Sits Like a Rock All Day, Maybe a Once in a Great While Craving. Oh and the disclaimer for the rest of the pictures is to remember that I was running for an hour before all of these. I look horrible. . .just forgive it :)

Ummmm. . .yeah. . .30 has made me more mature :)

Number 23 "Pierce: My Upper Ear" Yep. I did it! I squeezed the crap out of that Love Bear. You know what though, it didn't hurt at all. It doesn't hurt now in fact. It was so much fun! Most of the things on my list are. . .things I wouldn't normally do for myself other than, they are on the list. . .I have an excuse :)

These two weren't really on my list but after getting my ear pierced, Mike and I took a walk through our St. Peter's City Hall Park. It was beautiful (freezing at 57 degrees) and fun! I had a cup of coffee and he had a soda. We walked and talked for 30 minutes. Then we went to pick up the kids from MDO. We took them to the park. It was so much fun to run and chase them for an hour. Afterward, I walked home with Loren. It was nice to talk with her! We stopped at Lutheran St. Charles (their soccer field hits the trail we walked on) to watch the "Teamers" play soccer. Loren dictated how to play the whole way home. Somehow, "God made me and he loves teamers" made it into our discussion! I love 3 year olds! So after that, we dropped the kids off at Grandma and Granddads to spend the night "and swim in Gramma's bathtub." Mike and I went out to eat on my parents (thank you so much). . .

Then, we ended the night on number 7 "Classic Movie: Citizen Kane". Verdict: Good Movie BUT . . .Rosebud is the freaking sled. . .give me a break!

Now if you are counting you'll realize that it is only 4 of the promised 5. The fifth will happen tomorrow at midnight. . .check back then!

What a Wonderful Day!

Unbelievably I finished that list! Plus I packed 2 lunches, made dinner (a creative dinner at that. . .very Racheal Rayish), stripped-washed-remade beds! It's 7:15 and it's the first time I've sat down today but it sure felt great to get everything done. The kids were so unbelievably sweet and wonderful today. They self-entertained most of the day :)

So here are some pictures of my awesome day. . .

After a Breakfast of Peanut Butter Mush-Mash (Organic Peanut Butter with Apricot Preserves on a whole-wheat mini bagel) the kids sat down to Lorén's new toy. Yes, it is pieces to a Care Bears village. I got it at the Children's Consignment Sale for $4. Now, of course I tried to put my son down to play with some "boy toys" but he would have NONE of that. Whatever Lorén can do, he can do better (wink). In turn, they did play Monster Trucks later :)

My daughter helped my son get his shoes on to go outside. Do you see a problem? Yes, he has an "Elman-noooo" slipper on one foot and Lorén's Princess Tennis shoe on the other. What a little helper I have :)!

I've been so thankful for warm days! I LOVE my deck! I simply open the slider and the kids go in and out at will. My wonderful Father in Law build a gate and stairs off of my deck last year so I can contain them on the deck. Therefore they get sunshine and outdoor play while I get stuff done inside! Lorén loves to play "Night-Night" so she is in her house with her Little Tike's chairs set up like a bed. She is in fact using my nasty backdoor entryway mat as her blanket. Gross . . .but that's what childhood is about - right?

Nap time? I think so! Zach was being really quiet after a while. I went to check on him in the Family Room and found him asleep on Rocka-Rocka (His favorite chair). Sweet boy!

So after naps and baths it was outside again. So much fun to be had! I really enjoy having the house opened up. It does make it a bit more dusty inside though. Oh well, it's worth it. . .

Kitty agrees!

So after Bath #2 (rolling eyes) it was time to snuggle Daddy and watch some Basketball.

"Na-Na" was not interested in Basketball. Her Magnet Dress Up Dolls were more interesting. A side note - I came to play with her and I tried to put a certain pair of pants on her Sydney doll. She said, "NO MOM! Don't put those pants on her, she pee-peed those. They are dirty. You must wash them please." Classic.

** By the way, if you need to get a present for a girl age 3 - 6, get them one of these Magnetic Dress Up Dolls by Melissa and Doug. I first saw it at my High-School best friend's house. Jessie's daughter and mine played for an hour with hers. Lorén has all three. There is even a fire-fighter for Zach when he gets older. Mom's tell me all of the time how much their daughters play with them and how much it reminds the mom of her vinyl or paper dolls when they were little. Just a hint. amazon.com has them.**

So, today was busy. I'm really tired and sore but in a good way. My house is spotless and smells yummy (clean and fresh). I am going to sleep very well tonight I bet :)

Pictures :)

I'm sorry I've been so bad lately. We've had a baaaaaad couple of months. A quick update is

1) Last month we had something dreadful go on that I still can't talk about. It hasn't got better. In fact, in some ways, it's got worse. Nevertheless, God is good and Mike and I completely feel at peace and feel that what was intended for (utter complete selfish infantile) evil, God has meant for good. So, Mike and I are hurt but okay with how it all fell out!

2) Josh, Kelly and Josiah are on their way home. Kelly is doing really well. She is starting to heal. She will have to have reconstructive surgery around Wednesday. Her prep is pretty painful but her body is starting to do what the Dr. needs to get surgery done.

3) I've now been the Children's Worship Coordinator for a month. It's gone really well. I'm very pleased at where our Children's Church is going. It's a lot of work but it's a lot of fun. I have a great team of leaders and a wonderful team of teachers. Please continue to pray for our growth!

Now with much ado, here's pictures :)

Valentines Day party cookie! Yummy!

Together in the laundry basket!

Pouty girl! I heard her mumbling and crying about something so I went to check on her and whiny butt had pulled the laundry basket outside and had made a bed :) Cute :) She's so sad when she doesn't get her way!

God help me remember, what I need to do! Help me serve others in everything I do! When I'm walking, when I'm running, when I'm standing or when I am jumping!

YEAH!

Oh boy. . .

Poor Rozema family!

Little itty bitty Josiah now has increasing jaundice levels. Please keep this family in your prayers.

Pray for Rozema's!

Kelly our Sister in Law isn't doing too well.

When Josiah was born, he was in distress and they had to get him out immediately even though Kelly's body wasn't ready. He was suctioned 3 times. She of course sustained 4th degree tearing. Her OB said that if there were a 5th degree tearing, she would have been classified as that. Anyway, 1 week later, she's now back in the hospital with complications. Long story short, she's going to have reconstructive surgery in 2 weeks to repair the damage. Through this she is going to try to nurse so Josh and Josiah are going to be up at the hospital with her.

It's going to be a long road for the next month or so for poor Kelly, Josh and Josiah. We would appreciate your prayers as this is such a difficult time for all.
